Graphite electrodes are mainly made of petroleum coke and needle coke, coal tar pitch is used as a binder, and are made by calcination, batching, kneading, pressing, roasting, graphitization, and machining. Electric energy heats and melts the conductor of the charge. Graphite electrodes are an important part of the contemporary raw materials industry.
Features: Good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength, anti-oxidation at high temperature, and good corrosion resistance.
Application:
1) Electric arc furnace steelmaking
2) Mineral heat electric furnace, such as the production of ferroalloy, pure silicon, yellow phosphorus, matte, calcium carbide, etc.
3) Resistance furnaces, such as graphitization furnaces for producing graphite electrodes, melting furnaces for melting glass, electric furnaces for producing silicon carbide, etc.
Graphite electrodes are generally divided into: ordinary power graphite electrodes (RP), high power graphite electrodes (HP), and ultra-high power graphite electrodes (UHP).
RP graphite electrode, adopt High quality petroleum coke produced by petrochina fushun branch, and carbobitume, processing calcining→ingredient→mixing→pressing→baking→graphitization→machining to be a ready product, graphite joint adopts “one time impregnation, two times baking”process.
Allowed to use ordinary electric furnaces with a power lower than 17A/cm, which are mainly used for steelmaking, silicon smelting, yellow phosphorus smelting, etc.

HP graphite electrodes use premium quality petroleum coke produced by CNPC fushun branch, petroleum needle coke imported from Japan and medium temperature modified asphalt as raw materials, processing calcining→ingredient→mixing→pressing→baking→high pressure impregnation→secondary baking→graphitization→machining. The joint/nipple adopts “two times impregnation three times baking”process.
The physical and mechanical properties of HP graphite electrode are higher than RP graphite electrode, such as low resistivity, allowing greater current density(18 ~ 25A/cm2). HP graphite electrode is mainly used in high power arc furnaces for steel making.
allowed to use graphite electrodes of 18-25A/cm, mainly used in high-power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking.

UHP graphite electrodes use petroleum needle coke imported from Japan as raw materials, processing crushing→screening→ingredient→mixing→pressing→baking→high pressure impregnation→secondary baking→graphitization→machining. The joint/nipple adopts “three times impregnation four times baking”process.
The resistivity of UHP graphite electrode is lower, allowing greater current density (25A/cm2), and the linear expansion coefficient is smaller, with excellent thermal shock resistance, mainly used for ultra-high power steel arc furnace.
Graphite electrodes greater than 25A/cm are permitted. Mainly used in ultra-high power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking.
