When iron is made in a blast furnace, blast furnace graphite, also known as agglomerated graphite, will precipitate from the iron melt. Its structure was determined by X-ray diffraction method, and the spectral lines obtained were very similar to natural flake graphite.
Using scanning electron microscopy and electron diffraction to determine its structure (as shown in the picture) confirmed that it is indeed a perfectly crystallized graphite single crystal.
