Flexible graphite materials are non-fibrous materials. The flexible graphite is made into a sheet and molded into a sealing filler. Flexible graphite, also known as expanded graphite, is the removal of impurities in natural flake graphite. It is then treated with strong oxidizing mixed acid to become graphite oxide. Graphite oxide is decomposed by heat to release carbon dioxide, the volume expands rapidly, and becomes a flexible graphite with loose texture, softness and toughness.
Its main characteristics are:
1. Excellent heat resistance and cold resistance. Flexible graphite from the ultra-low temperature of -270 degrees to the high temperature of 3650 degrees (in non-oxidizing gases), its physical properties have almost no change, and it can also be used in the air to about 600 degrees;
2, Has excellent chemical corrosion resistance. In addition to corrosion in strong oxidizing media such as nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid, flexible graphite has almost no corrosion in other acids, bases and solvents;
3,Has good self-lubricity. Like natural graphite, flexible graphite is easy to slide between layers under the action of external forces, so it has lubricity, good anti-wear property and small friction coefficient.
4, High rebound rate. When the shaft or shaft sleeve appears radial circular runout due to eccentricity in manufacturing, installation, etc., it has sufficient floating performance, and even if the graphite cracks, it can be well closed, so as to ensure that the fit is tight and prevent leakage.
